Hi there!
I'm Kate Bird and, in 2012, I became a Personal Stylist because I've always been 'bigger' - not dramatically bigger, just an annoying size or two bigger than other women in my life. And being bigger makes dressing a little more tricky!
I realised in my early teens when my body began sprouting curves that while my peers were looking youthfully fashionable, I was standing in front of the mirror tucking, tweaking, tugging and despairing.

And this pattern continued throughout most of my adult life until I decided to take matters into my own hands and officially trained to learn how to dress my body - and in the process, learned how to dress everybody else's body too.

And this has never been more valuable to me, and others, as we enter into our peri, present and post menopausal age.
These days I know that style isn't about being a certain size or age and being able to wear the latest fashions, it's about knowing who you are at this time in your life and dressing in a way that feels flatteringly YOU.

Why colour?
My world exploded when I discovered the power of colour, and everything changed!

I realised that, regardless of the style of my clothes, even if I was wearing a hessian sack, as long as it was a hessian sack in a great colour for me, it was going to make me shine, my skin glow, my eyes bright and my self confidence soar.

And that's how Colour me Kate was born; certainly not from perfection and lording that over others, but from difficulties, persistence and a drive to share my discoveries with other women like me.

Now in my fifties, I work primarily with women over 40 from my Colour me Kate Studio, which is perfectly located upstairs, inside a popular café in Darlington, the most beautiful Perth Hills suburb of Western Australia.

With best wishes,

Things you might not know about me...
I'm an introvert
(operating on short bursts of fun, high energy)

I'm not a stick-insect
(well, maybe a VERY curvy one!)

I don't wear black
(literally none in my wardrobe)

I'm intuitive and empathetic
(love to dig down into the very core of people)

I love people who are able to laugh at themselves
(self-deprecation is one of my favourite values)

I believe a good cup of tea can solve most problems
(English Breakfast, white, no sugar over here, please!)

And if tea fails - bring Prosecco.
(chin chin!!!)
